前言序：前言
中医和中药这块瑰宝，在
中国乃至世界的科学
技术史上都占有重要的一席之地。我一直对这个领域怀有崇敬之心。传统的药用植物包括细菌、真菌、藻类、地衣、苔藓、蕨类和种子植物。在这些植物中，无论从数量上，还是用量和重要性上，种子植物都居主导地位。客观说来，这部书是应医药界朋友的要求而诞生的。他们在得知我编纂《种子植物汉拉日俄英名称》时，希望我将药用植物也一同搞出来，并谈了一些原因。打动我耗费大量精力编纂此书的原因有这样几条：一是阅读外文
资料遇到植物名称时查不到中文名称；二是撰写
论文和学术交流时将中药植物译成外文时感到困难；三是药用植物的拉丁名用的很混乱；四是很多中医在开药方时，出于某种原因，经常使用很怪僻的药名，别人很难查到，有时甚至延误了病情。最近几年我就收到好几个国内外的中医朋友查询此类名称的电话。这种情况下，我也感到编著这样一部书确有必要。于是便查阅了一批中国、
日本和西方的资料，汇成此书。
种子植物汉拉日俄英5种文字名称的现状、
规范的必要性及有关问题，笔者在《种子植物汉拉日俄英名称》的“前言”中已有简介，不再赘述。
本书收入药用种子植物名称173152条，其中中文名89322条，拉丁名28358条，日文名13865条，俄文名9132条，
英文名32475条。拉丁名中，囊括全部的中国药用种子植物及外国植物3127个分类单元。书中收入拉丁文同物异名9187条，这些异名是1949~
2004年国内外重要文献还在使用的、新考证出的、新组合产生的异名。全部拉丁名均按照《国际植物命名
法规》的要求而
标准化，包括命名人缩写不标准者，词尾不符合拉丁文语法者，种加词和种下加词中带有连字符“”者，命名人漏缺或误用者，自动名（autonym）中带有命名人者。
书中收入中文名称89322条。笔者想竭泽而渔，包括日文汉字名称，但可能还有遗漏。
对汉文读者来说，本书实际上还是一部药用种子植物索引。例如，本书排列在一起的接骨草（接骨木，接骨药，接骨藤……）等就有103种植物，相信这对研究接骨药物的人员是会有启发的。
书中还用符号标出了非国产植物、木本植物、草本植物、中国特有的种子植物属、国家确定的濒危植物及内蒙古的种子植物。书中还给出了中国全部种子植物科和含药用植物的属的相关数据：科包含的世界属数与种数，中国产的属数与种数；属包含的世界种数和中国产的种数。
希望本书能给医药界的朋友们提供些方便，为医药开发的研究人员开拓些思路,并为规范与统一中药名称留下些
基础资料。诚恳企盼读者的批评与建议，以便再版订正。

TraditionalChinesemedicineasatreasuretakesanimportantroleinscienceandtechnologyhistoryofChinaandworld.Ihavebeennourishingmyrespectedheartinthisfieldforalongtime.TraditionalChinesemedicinalplantsincludebacteria,fungi,alga,lichen,bryophytes,fernandseedplants.Butnodoubttheseedplantsareleadingintheprimarypositionfromthequantity,dosageandimportance.Fromanobjectiveview,friendsinmedicalfieldrequestbroughtaboutthenaissanceofthisbook.TheyexpectmetowriteitwhentheyheardthatIwascompilingADictionaryofSeedPlantNamesinLatinChineseJapaneseRussianEnglish,andenumeratedsomereasons.Followingaresomereasonswhichtouchedmetospendagreatenergytocompileit:first,itwasimpossibletofindChinesenamewhentheysawplantnamesinforeigndocumentation;second,theyfeltthatitisverydifficulttotranslatetheChinesemedicineplantsintoforeignlanguagewhentheycomposedtheirpaperorhadscienceintercourse;third,theLatinnamesofmedicineplantsisinconfusionsituation;forth,sometraditionalChinesemedicinaldoctorsoftenmadeprescriptionswithstrangemedicinenamesbecauseofdifferentreasons,itisverydifficultforotherstolookforandsometimesitcandelaytheillness.TheseyearsIhavereceivedsomecallsfromtraditionalChinesemedicinalfriendsinoth
